Context
Rickea Jackson is a WNBA player for the LA Sparks and the 2024 #4 draft pick. Our mission at Beats by Dre's Beats Academy was to create a campaign centered around her story and identity. On my team of 7 young creatives, I was our graphic designer.
Process
I started by synthesizing insights from my interview with Rickea to develop her brand voice. Following this, I created a logo and suite of graphics, refined through feedback to ensure they aligned with our campaign. I also contributed to concept development and pre/post production efforts.
Challenges
1. Capturing Rickea's strong on-court presence and luxurious off-court style into one cohesive identity.
2. Ensuring designs translated seamlessly across diverse mediums, including physical products and video.

An icon for an icon
Rickea's logo honors her deeply rooted identity while tying in her passion for basketball and the story of our campaign - that she just can't miss.
Through research and a collaborative approach, I developed an visual direction in tune with Rickea's personal narratives and luxurious style. From elegant typography to her favorite shade of pink, each design element was curated to reflect her strength, confidence, and personality.

This project taught me how to distill an athlete's identity into a unified look while adapting designs across platforms. Collaborating with a team and working directly with Rickea improved my ability to balance storytelling, visual impact, and communication. As a lover of fashion & sports, this project was an amazing experience.
